The now extended closure of the footpath linking the shoppers car-park behind the Co-Operative store in the centre of Ilminster to the shop itself is something of an inconvenience, especially given the usual difficulty in parking in that part of the town. According to one store worker the closure is due to safety concerns over the 'repointing' work taking place on the old court building. Let us hope that those concerned pull their fingers and get on with the work or perhaps just provide a covered area, so that shoppers can continue to use the footpath and help lessen the never-ending parking problems in the street itself.
