The Population of Ilminster?

In the 16th Century, during the time of Henry VIII, the population of Ilminster was around 1,000. In 2002 the population of Ilminster was recorded by Somerset County Council as 4,781. With the large number of houses built since that survey seven years back we wonder how many people might live in the town now?
